The Test of German as a Foreign Language – TestDaF – is a standardized test that assesses the language skills of applicants worldwide who wish to study in Germany.

There are no admission requirements for taking the exam; however, participants should have studied at least 800 to 1,000 hours of German.

TestDaF consists of four sub-tests in which “Reading Comprehension”, “Listening Comprehension”, “Written Expression” and “Oral Expression” are tested. The test results are assigned to different levels (TDN 3-5).

bibis offers a preparation course for every exam date. You will get to know the exam format and practise techniques for solving the tasks. The necessary knowledge of grammar and vocabulary is assumed. You should therefore have successfully completed at least approx. 1000 hours of lessons or attended courses at C1 level before registering. After registering and paying the test fee of 215 euros for the paper-based TestDaF, you will receive a TAN (transaction number) from bibis, which you can use to register for the test online at www.testdaf.de.
